Stephen Mawn, TAG Administrator Nuclear Technical Advisory Group to TC 85 ASTM International 100 Barr Harbor Drive, PO Box C700 West Conshohocken, PA 19428-2959
SUBJECT:
LETTER NOMINATING DR. CASPER SUN TO THE NUCLEAR TECHNICAL ADVISORY GROUP TO TECHNICAL COMMITTEE 85
Dear Mr. Mawn:
I would like to nominate Dr. Casper Sun as the authorized NRC representative on the Nuclear Technical Advisory Group (NTAG) to the Technical Committee (TC) 85 on Nuclear Energy.
Specifically, I would like to nominate Dr. Sun as the authorized NRC representative for TC-85 Sub Committee (SC) 2, Radiological Protection and SC-6, Reactor Technology, related activities. Dr. Sun is a Health Physicist in the NRCs Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, Division of Division of Systems Analysis, and is responsible for nuclear regulatory research for reactor safety and radiological protection.
In accordance with the Office of Management and Budget Circular No. A-119, "Federal Participation in the Development and Use of Voluntary Consensus Standards and in Conformity Assessment Activities," January 27, 2016, the participation on a committee of an NRC-authorized representative does not connote agency agreement with, or endorsement of, decisions reached by the committee, or of standards approved and published as a result of the committees efforts. Agency representatives participating on consensus standards developing groups will, to the extent possible, ascertain the views of the agency on matters of interest and will express views that are consistent with established agency views.
However, the NRCs endorsement of these standards, if desired by the NRC, would be part of a separate activity such as incorporation by reference into rulemaking or endorsement in an NRC regulatory guide.
Correspondence should be addressed to:
U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Dr. Casper Sun Washington, D.C. 20555 Telephone: (301) 415 - 1646 E-mail: Casper.Sun@nrc.gov March 26, 2021
Thank you very much for providing the NRC with the opportunity to participate in the work of your committee.
Sincerely, Louise Lund, NRC Standards Executive Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research cc:
