APPOINTMENT OF ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON THE MEDICAL USES OF ISOTOPES VICE CHAIRMAN
Dear Dr. Dilsizian:
With the recent resignation of Dr. A. Robert Schleipman on January 20, 2021, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has recommended that you should be selected to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes (ACMUI). As the Director, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, I hereby appoint you as the Vice Chairman of the ACMUI effective as of the date of this letter.
The NRC staff has benefited from your expertise as the Nuclear Cardiologist representative on the ACMUI since May 2014. During your tenure, you have actively participated on numerous subcommittees, some of which include Nursing Mother Guidelines, Regulatory Guide 8.39, Release of Patients Administered Radioactive Material, Yttrium-90 Microspheres Brachytherapy Sources and Devices TheraSpheres and SIR-Spheres Licensing Guidance, Infiltrations and Medical Event Reporting, and the initial Patient Intervention Subcommittee, which you chaired. In addition, you continue to remain proactively engaged to enhance communications between the NRC and the medical community while serving on the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Board of Directors as Immediate Past President.
