SUBJECT:

U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REVIEW OF EXPORT LICENSE APPLICATION XB1342

Dear Mr. Sanders:

I am writing to update you on the status of your export license application (XB1342). The application is currently under review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), for the export of one Germanium-68 sealed source for use in a positron-emission tomography scanning device at the Amal Al-Hayat Hospital in Najaf, Iraq. Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 110.40(d), states in part, if the Commission has not completed action on a license application within 60 days after receipt of the Executive Branch (EB) judgement, the NRC is required to inform the applicant in writing of the reason for the delay.

The NRC received the final EB judgment on November 13, 2020, but additional time is needed for NRC staff and management to complete its review of the export application.

You may contact Gary Langlie, the licensing officer assigned to your case, at any time.

Mr. Langlie may be reached via email at Gary.Langlie@nrc.gov.

Sincerely, 1/28/2021 X Peter J. Habighorst Peter. J. Habighorst Signed by: Peter J. Habighorst Peter J. Habighorst, Chief Export Controls and Nonproliferation Branch Office of International Programs
