UPDATE ON STAFF RESPONSE TO THE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERALS AUDIT OF THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM (OIG-20-A-12)
REFERENCE:
DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF NUCLEAR SECURITY AND INCIDENT RESPONSE, MEMORANDUM DATED NOVEMBER 17, 2020 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendation 3 as discussed in the agencys memorandum dated November 17, 2020. Based on this response, recommendation 3 is closed. Recommendations 1 and 2 remain open and resolved. Please provide an updated status of the resolved and open recommendations by February 28, 2021, as requested in OIGs previous response dated August 5, 2020.

Audit Report AUDIT OF NRCS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM OIG-20-A-12 Status of Recommendations Recommendation 3: Make content and design changes to improve accessibility and clarity of the emergency preparedness and incident response public Web pages, including:
- a. Use plain language and best practices to provide information targeting specific audiences (e.g., industry, government partners, and general public).
- b. Improve connections between the program office pages with emergency preparedness information and existing public affairs resources.
Agency Response Dated November 17, 2020: Staff, in coordination with the Office of Public Affairs, created 1 and revised 16 emergency preparedness and incident response public Web pages to reflect plain language, provide up-to-date information, including removal of obsolete or inapplicable information, fix broken hyperlinks, and ensure all hyperlinks connect to relevant sources.

OIG and agency representatives discussed the changes at a meeting on January 26, 2021. As a result of the review and meeting, OIG verified that the Web pages are up-to-date and use plain language. This recommendation is closed.
