16.0-ii REVISION 8 - DECEMBER 2000

B/B-UFSAR CHAPTER 16.0 - TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 16.1 PRELIMINARY TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Refer to Section 16.2 16.1-1

B/B-UFSAR 16.2 PROPOSED FINAL TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS The Technical Specifications for Byron/Braidwood Stations are issued by the NRC as Appendix A to the Operating License.

Because of their evolving nature during original definition, and their subsequent revision during plant operations, the Technical Specifications are placed in a separate document.

This deviation from Regulatory Guide 1.70 on FSAR format and content is justified on the basis of NRC's Proof of Review Draft of the Byron Technical Specifications, dated December 16, 1983.

16.2-1 REVISION 4 - DECEMBER 1992

B/B-UFSAR 16.3 IMPROVED TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS On December 22, 1998, the NRC issued Amendments No. 106 and No.

98 to the Technical Specifications for Byron Nuclear Station and Braidwood Nuclear Station, respectively. These amendments approved the conversion to the Improved Technical Specifications (ITS) format, using NUREG-1431, "Standard Technical Specifications for Westinghouse Plants," Revision 1, as a basis.

As a result of the conversion to the ITS, requirements supporting various plant conditions, actions, and testing which support operation of the plant were relocated from the Technical Specifications to the Technical Requirements Manual (TRM).

The TRM is incorporated by reference into the UFSAR and is under the control of Exelon Generation Company. Changes to the TRM may be made without prior NRC approval provided the changes do not require NRC approval pursuant to 10 CFR 50.59. The TRM revision process contains provisions to ensure that the TRM is maintained consistent with the UFSAR.

Proposed changes that require NRC approval pursuant to 10 CFR 50.59 are reviewed and approved by the NRC prior to implementation. Changes to the TRM implemented without prior NRC approval are provided to the NRC on a frequency consistent with 10 CFR 50.71(e).
