SAFETY EVALUATION FOR THE GE-HITACHI LICENSING TOPICAL REPORT NEDC-33911P, REVISION 0, SUPPLEMENT 1, BWRX-300 CONTAINMENT PERFORMANCE (DOCKET NO. 99900003)
By letter dated March 31, 2020, GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas, LLC (GEH) submitted Licensing Topical Report (TR) NEDC-33911P, Revision 0, BWRX-300 Containment Performance, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML20091S340) to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff for review. It is the NRC staffs understanding that NEDC-33911P will be referenced in a future application for a construction permit or a combined license for the BWRX-300 small modular reactor, a boiling-water reactor based on GEHs Economic Simplified-Boiling Water Reactor design previously certified by the NRC staff. By letter dated September 4, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20248H572), GEH submitted Revision 0, Supplement 1, of this TR for the NRC staffs review and approval. A public version of Revision 0, Supplement 1, of this TR can be found in ADAMS under Accession No. ML20248H573.
The NRC staffs non-public safety evaluation (SE) for NEDC-33911P, Revision 0, Supplement 1, BWRX-300 Containment Performance, can be found in ADAMS under Accession No. ML21008A370. A public version of the NRC staffs SE can be found in ADAMS under Accession No. ML21008A371. The SE will support a future meeting of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards Subcommittee, currently scheduled for January 13, 2021.
