Subject:
(3) Amendment 38 -Approval of Regulatory Relief from Specific Radiation Protection Commitments in Chapter 4 of the SNM-42 License Application (Enterprise Project Identifier L-2020-LLA-0117)
(4} Commonwealth of Virginia Executive Order 72, dated December 10, 2020 Requests for Continuation of Regulatory Relief Granted in Amendments 37 and 38 of SNM COVID-19 Pandemic Response
Dear Sir or Madam:
References 2 and 3 provided regulatory relief to BWXT NOG-L from certain SNM-42 license application (LA} commitments with the potential to be impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency {PHE}. The approved license conditions in Amendments 37 and 38 of SNM-42 will expire on December 31, 2020.
Due to the continued PHE, BWXT NOG-L requests continued relief from the LA Commitments scheduled to expire on December 31, 2020. At this juncture, the Commonwealth of Virginia has reinstated guidelines (Reference 4) limiting in-person gatherings to 10 people or less. With the uncertainty of when these guidelines will be lifted, extension requests for the Emergency Preparedness and Radiation Protection relief requests deadlines are included in the enclosure.
If you have any questions regarding the requests, please contact Richard Freudenberger, Manager, Environment, Safety, Health & Safeguards Department Manager, at (434) 522-5175.
