Part 20 petition for rulemaking status
Dear Dr. Carol S. Marcus:
This e-mail is to provide the status on the petition for rulemaking (PRM) that you submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), PRM-20-28, dated February 9, 2015 (Accession No. ML15051A503 in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)).
The NRC received two additional petitions on the same topic (PRM-20-29 and PRM-20-30); all three petitions were docketed using the same Docket ID (NRC-2015-0057). You requested that the NRC greatly simplify and change Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR)
Part 20 to take radiation hormesis into account.
The NRC continues to review the three petitions for rulemaking due to the large volume of public comments received and the complexity of the issues. The NRC continues to work diligently to make a determination regarding the petitions and will inform you of the status of the NRCs consideration of your PRM consistent with current requirements in 10 CFR Part 2, Subpart H, and the NRCs internal practices and procedures on PRMs. Publicly-available information on your PRM is available on the NRC public website at https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/rulemaking-ruleforum/petitions-by-year/2015/.
