STATUS OF RECOMMENDATION: AUDIT OF NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS TRAINING SELECTION PROCESS FOR AGREEMENT STATE PERSONNEL (OIG-19-A-11)

REFERENCE:

DIRECTOR FOR OFFICE OF NUCLEAR MATERIAL SAFETY AND SAFEGUARDS, MEMORANDUM DATED SEPTEMBER 2, 2020 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of the recommendation as discussed in the agencys response dated September 2, 2020.

Based on this response, recommendation 1 is now closed. All recommendations related to this audit report are now closed.

Audit Report AUDIT OF U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS TRAINING SELECTION PROCESS FOR AGREEMENT STATE PERSONNEL (OIG-19-A-11)

Status of Recommendation Recommendation 1: Update SA-600, Training Selection Process and Criteria for Agreement State Personnel, to more accurately reflect the training selection process and the roles and responsibilities of the NRC parties involved.

Agency Response Dated September 2, 2020:

On August 26, 2020, the revised SA-600 was issued and posted on the state communication portal website (https://scp.nrc.gov/procedures.html). It was distributed to the Agreement States on August 27, 2020. The revised SA-600 more accurately reflects the training selection process and the roles and responsibilities of the parties involved. In addition, the staff revised the process for registering Agreement State personnel for online training courses to better accommodate the increasing number of training courses being offered online.

Next Steps: None.

Target date for completion: Staff has completed its response to this recommendation.

OIG Analysis: OIG reviewed the revised SA-600 posted on the state communication portal website and verified that it more accurately reflects the training selection process and the roles and responsibilities of the involved NRC parties.

Therefore, the recommendation is considered closed.
