Title:
Replacement Energy Cost Estimates for Nuclear Power Plants: 2020-2030 Meeting Identifier: 20201293 Date: November 18, 2020 Location: Webinar and Teleconference Category: Category 3 Purpose of the Meeting: To present updated information on replacement energy forecasts for short-and long-term shutdowns of U.S. nuclear electricity generating units to facilitate public comment on a draft NUREG for forecasting replacement energy costs.
General Details: The meeting was attended by 12 members of the public and 13 members of Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff via Webinar and/or teleconference.
Summary of Presentation: The NRC staff presented the modeling approach, including the assumptions and methodology, that were used to forecast replacement energy costs for nuclear power plant outages within the U.S. The staff also presented an example of the results of the replacement energy cost estimates and provided an opportunity for the public to ask questions.
Summary of Public Feedback: No questions or feedback were received during the meeting.
Action Items/Next Steps:
The Federal Register notice requesting formal comment on draft NUREG-2242, Replacement Energy Cost Estimates for Nuclear Power Plants:2020-2030, will be issued by the end of the calendar year. The NRC staff will review and evaluate formal comments received on the draft NUREG to inform the development of the final NUREG for Commission review and approval.
