Dear Nuclear Regulatory Commission,
I am asking (NRC) to deny the license for Waste Control Specialists/Interim Storage Partners' proposal for a high-level nuclear waste storage facility outside of Eunice, NM. This area cannot support safe storage and it will affect the health of the geographic area's land and people. There is not a way to guarantee that nuclear waste will be safely contained and stored or transported from facilities anywhere in the continental United States. In 1976 it was determined by FERC that nuclear waste kept at the location of use is the safest, albeit hazardous do to the nuclear fuel cycle being deeply harmful to all living things in its entirety.
Asking New Mexico to take hazardous waste proposing a similar facility outside of Carlsbad.and another waste dump in the southeast New Mexico/west Texas area is the second license decision which will contaminate a section of our country without an end date. Therefore, deny the proposed licenses and maintain the health and safety of our Country. Recycling in place may be a plan that the NRC should consider before it is too late.
