Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Tennessee Multi-Sector Permit (TMSP), Annual Stormwater Monitoring Report for SW-1, SW-8, SW-13, SW-18, SW-19, and SW-21 Attached isthe 2020 Annual Stormwater Monitoring Report for outfalls SW-1, SW-8 SW-13 SW-18, SW-19, and SW-21 for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, which includes the 30- and 60-day' letterrequirements to satisfy narrative conditions Section 4.3 ofthe TMSP.

Respectfully, Travis R. Markum Environmental Scientist

Tennessee Valley Authority, Post Office Box 2000, Soddy Daisy, Tennessee 37384-2000 October 28, 2020 Chattanooga Environmental Field Office Division of Water Resources 1301 Riverfront Parkway, #206 Chattanooga, Tennessee 37402-2013 TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY - SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT - TENNESSEE MULTI-SECTOR GENERAL PERMIT (TMSP) PERMIT NO. TNR050015 SECTOR O -

EXCEEDANCE OF BENCHMARK MONITORING REQUIREMENT Stormwater outfall SW-1 was sampled for iron during a qualifying rain event on September 24, 2020. Analytical result for the iron concentration that exceeded the benchmark value of 5 mg/L is summarized in Table 1 below.

Table 1. Total Recoverable Iron Results Storm Water Sample Date Analytical Analytical Benchmark Outfall Number Results Results Concentration Received by (mg/L) (mg/L)

TVA 1 09/24/2020 10/02/2020 8.72 5.0 This letter serves as the 30- and 60-day notifications of benchmark exceedances for total iron.

30-Day Requirement As required by the permit, the drainage area for Outfall 1was inspected to determine the likely cause(s) of the exceedance. The following potential issue was identified:

  • Outfall SW-1. This outfall is located downhill from a stretch where the stone along the driving area has either been worn down or washed out. In addition, there is a sizeable area where perennial vegetation has not returned and created a bare area.

60-Day Requirement The Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) has been reviewed to identify potential changes to reduce the iron concentrations at outfall SW-1. Description of the proposed corrective actions and corresponding timetable for completion is shown in Table 2.

Chattanooga Environmental Field Office Page 2 October 28, 2020 Table 2. Description of Corrective Actions and Timetable for Completion Outfall Corrective actions to reduce iron concentration Target Implementation Date SW-1 Stabilize disturbed soil areas within this drainage footprint by the 12/31/20 addition of stone along the driving area and by applying seed and straw to adjacent bare areas.
