STATUS OF RECOMMENDATION: AUDIT OF THE U.S.

NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS EMPLOYEE REENTRY PLANS (OIG-20-A-16)

REFERENCE:

DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR REACTOR AND PREPAREDNESS PROGRAMS, MEMORANDUM DATED OCTOBER 14, 2020 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendation as discussed in the agencys response dated October 14, 2020.

Based on this response, recommendation 1 is open and resolved. Please provide an updated status of this recommendation by October 15, 2021.

Audit Report AUDIT OF THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS EMPLOYEE REENTRY PLANS (OIG-20-A-16)

Status of Recommendation Recommendation 1: Capture and document lessons learned for future use during public health emergencies or other events that could cause prolonged disruption of agency operations.

Agency Response Dated October 14, 2020: The NRC staff agrees with the recommendation. The Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response, in coordination with all applicable supporting offices, will take the following steps to address the recommendation:

a. Continue to capture and document lessons learned from the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency (PHE) using surveys to solicit input from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission workforce.
b. Formally document lessons learned in an after-action report.

Target Completion Date: 3 months after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services declares the conclusion of the COVID-19 PHE.
