[External_Sender] No nuclear waste in Texas
Dear Nuclear Regulatory Commission,
Dear NRC Commissioners and Staff,
The proposed so-called "temporary" waste dump is designed to fail in a VERY short time. IF you wish to have a waste dump anywhere - including at existing nuclear reactors - better, more durable, casks that are transportable need to be designed, tested, and finally certified by the NRC
- not as currently promised by a short-term contractor looking for a fast buck and a quick exit.
If you are paying attention, you know the problems with thin-shield dry cask storage. If you have NOT been paying attention, it is time to start.
In addition to a much-improved, more long-term, temporary dry cask storage design, a serious search for a willing, safe, suitable, permanent strategy is necessary.
Please get with the program before there is a serious malfunction at one of the current spent fuel storage facilities. Your reputations and our safety are at stake.
Suzanne Rhodes, LWV/SC SRS waste monitor Sincerely, Suzanne H rhodes 345 Ballentine estates road Irmo, SC 29063
