October 14th 2020 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Document Control Desk 11545 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852 Attn: Linh Tran, Senior Program Manager, NPUF Operating License R-116 Docket 50-326

Subject:

Confirmation of Level 1 Personnel Change I write to confirm that the Level 1 responsible person for the UCI Reactor Operating License is Professor Hal Stern, Interim Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor of the University of California, Irvine.

Action: Replace Professor Enrique Lavernia with Professor Hal Stern in NRC records.

Justification:

On March 11th 2020, an email was sent to our NRC Program Manager concerning the unexpected removal of Dr. Enrique Lavernia from his position as Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor. All of his duties, including responsibility for the UCI Reactor Facility license on behalf of the Regents of the University of California, were immediately assumed on an Interim basis by Dr. Hal Stern, Chancellors Professor of Statistics at UC Irvine.

(see https://www.ics.uci.edu/~sternh/ )

This arrangement continues until today and in the immediate future. NRC will be informed at once if a new individual is recruited to this position.

Affirmation:

I state under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct.

Signed George E. Miller Reactor Supervisor cc:

Prof. Rachel Martin, Reactor Director John Keffer, Reactor Facility Manager BERKELEY
