[External_Sender] Halt the license for radioactive waste storage office of administration, Office of Administration Mail Stop: TWFN-7-A60M Attn: Program Management, Announcements and Editing Staff U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001 RE: Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), Docket No. 72-1050; NRC-2016-0231 Interim Storage Projects license application to construct and operate a Consolidated Interim Storage Facility (CISF) for spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and Greater-Than Class C (GTCC) waste.

Dear NRC Commissioners and Staff,

I am about to become a grandmother for the first time. And I am terrified at the prospect of the Interim Storage Projects application to import and store 40,000 tons of spent nuclear fuel from nuclear reactors around the country in Andrews County, Texas.

The claim is that this storage would only be for 40 years, but 40 years could turn into forever.

Not only would this plan expose a large population of Latinos to deadly nuclear waste, it is also in a geographic area where there are earthquakes, sinkholes, wildfires, extreme hot and cold temperatures and storms.

The risk of potential leaks, terrorist attacks and transportation accidents. could jeopardize millions of people. Scientists and the nuclear industry need to figure out permanent disposal for long-term isolation, not "interim" storage!

Please do NOT ignore the will of the people AND experts concerned with health safety NRC has ignored many key health and safety issues.

The draft Environmental Impact study is inadequate. No hot cell is proposed, so there would be no way to repackage radioactive waste from a cracked or leaking canister, and no way to move it anywhere else.

Terrorism, spy drones, worse case scenarios, hardened onsite storage systems and risks along transportation routes were not adequately addressed or minimized.

And what about the risks to the people and environment in the immediate vicinity? Dumping the most toxic nuclear waste of a whole nation on the largely Latinx Southwest region is the height of environmental injustice. And it jeopardizes the pecan, cattle, dairy and oil and gas industries.

I oppose Consolidated Interim Storage at this, and other sites. The NRC should protect public health and safety, the economy and the environment, by halting the application process and denying the license for Consolidated Interim Storage.
