MONIQUE SALHAB My name is Monique Salhab, genderqueer, she/they/them. Im a post 911 veteran, two tours in Iraq. I sit here on Tiwa land in Albuquerque, New Mexico, submitting a comment in regards to Holtec and the proposed sanctioning of killing more native indigenous, Black Indigenous, People of Color. I think about my time in the military and being a part of the nuclear industrial complex within the military industrial complex and the time that I was a willing participant in the destruction and harming not only of the land, but of people. Ive dedicated my life to being a living representation of what reparations can be, should be, as a veteran, talking about the issues of military industrial complex. And as I've lived within the state of New Mexico, the irony is that Ive started to really look at how I was interconnected and not knowing the deep, deep history within the state and the native indigenous people who reside here, who belong here, and have been here for thousands and thousands of years and witnessing and hearing stories and being a part of different communities of people who have been doing this work for decades, attempting to amplify their voices in the stories to raise awareness and to constantly see how Kirtland Air Force Base, how Los Alamos, how Fort Bliss, Sandia National Labs, all of these areas, White Sands, all of the countless unknown government sanctioned, military sanctioned, and government contracted sanctioned projects, experiments that continue to utilize the land in New Mexico and its people sacrificed. I do not consent. I believe the people of New Mexico do not consent to what Holtec is proposing.
