[External_Sender] Docket ID NRC-2018-0052 Draft Environmental Impact Statement Comment

Dear NRC staff,

I am writing to submit a public comment in response to the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Docket ID NRC-2018-0052) regarding Holtec Internationals application for a license to build and operate a Consolidated Interim Storage Facility for Spent Nuclear Fuel and High Level Waste (NUREG-2237).

I am strongly opposed to the Holtec storage proposal.

There can be no excuse for transporting highly dangerous radioactive waste across the country, engangering millions of lives, just so that you can dump it in a location that you think nobody cares about. This project must be prevented. It's been 75 years since the dawn of the nuclear age -

surely that should have been enough time for our brilliant scientists and engineers to come up with a solution to the radioactive waste problem. But no such solution has been found -- and this dangerous and foolish stopgap measure - to make the waste disposal "someone else's problem" is shameful and arrogant.

The reasons why this "Interim Storage Facility" is a terrible idea are well documented, and I'm sure that you have received thousands of comments listing those reasons, so there is no need to reiterate them here. But please, please, consider the legions of Americans whose health and safety will be put into jeopardy by this ill-advised project. This license should be denied. No on Holtec!
