Dear Nuclear Regulatory Commission Holtec comments,
I protested nukes in the 1970s. Finally, some of the waste dumps in NM have been ameliorated. I am totally against shipping the country's radioactive waste to NM. This is too dangerous. NM has already been the site of too much nuclear activity. Please consider NOT permitting Holtec to establish a radioactive waste site here.
I object to the approval of the Holtec Consolidated Interim Storage site near Carlsbad, NM. It would be safer to reduce transportation of highly radioactive used reactor fuel by leaving it at the site of generation until a permanent repository exists. ?
-- The proposed site is near a highway, presenting a terrorism risk.
--?The plan does not adequately address radiation risk to workers. ?
--?There should be real-time monitoring for leakage.
--?The lack of consideration of Hardened On-Site Storage at the reactor site as an alternative is a glaring problem. ?
--?The lack of an on-site plan to deal with leakage is extremely concerning.
