Dear Nuclear Regulatory Commission Holtec comments,
Why is our state your nuclear waste dumping ground. This is ridiculous.
Carlsbad is a popular tourist area, and you don?t know how many ways this could leak, pollute ground water,etc.
We deserve to be safe from this sort of thing I object to the approval of the Holtec Consolidated Interim Storage site near Carlsbad, NM. It would be safer to reduce transportation of highly radioactive used reactor fuel by leaving it at the site of generation until a permanent repository exists. ?
-- The proposed site is near a highway, presenting a terrorism risk.
--?The plan does not adequately address radiation risk to workers. ?
--?There should be real-time monitoring for leakage.
--?The lack of consideration of Hardened On-Site Storage at the reactor site as an alternative is a glaring problem. ?
--?The lack of an on-site plan to deal with leakage is extremely concerning.
