[External_Sender] Re: Docket NRC-2018-0052 I am writing to ask you to reject the Holtec Consolidated Interim Storage site between Carlsbad and Hobbs, N.M. Hardened on-site storage is a much safer alternative.
The transport of these casks cross-country -- and then the potential or likelihood that they will be moved to a permanent facility -- presents significant risks that have not been adequately addressed.
The plan does not adequately address radiation risk to workers. It does not address the risk of an accident that contaminated soils or the likelihood that the license period is extended beyond 40 years. Hardened on-site storage was not adequately addressed as an alternative, and should have been.
