Dear Nuclear Regulatory Commission Holtec comments,
Please do not curse us with waste that should not be created in the first place, since we have a safe nuclear reactor already, it is called the sun. Progress does not come in the form of waste, rather faith in human ingenuity for a safe place to live. Thank you for not producing toxic waste and placing the burden on the poorest state in the union.
I object to the approval of the Holtec Consolidated Interim Storage site near Carlsbad, NM. It would be safer to reduce transportation of highly radioactive used reactor fuel by leaving it at the site of generation until a permanent repository exists. ?
-- The proposed site is near a highway presenting a terrorism risk.
--?The plan does not adequately address radiation risk to workers. ?
--?There should be real-time monitoring for leakage.
--?The lack of consideration of Hardened On-Site Storage at the reactor site as an alternative is a glaring problem. ?
--?The lack of an on-site plan to deal with leakage is extremely concerning.
