Dear Nuclear Regulatory Commission Holtec comments,

The landscape of New Mexico is extraordinary and the home to indigenous peoples who have lived on the land for centuries. Because of its low population in the mid 20thc the government put nuclear labs and military bases here. we have carried enough of the load for far too long and now the plans to use NM as a nuclear waste dump adds another insult to the safety and integrity of our lands. PLEASE do not expand the abuses already in place. we serve better.

I object to the approval of the Holtec Consolidated Interim Storage site near Carlsbad, NM. It would be safer to reduce transportation of highly radioactive used reactor fuel by leaving it at the site of generation until a permanent repository exists. ?

-- The proposed site is near a highway presenting a terrorism risk.

--?The plan does not adequately address radiation risk to workers. ?

--?There should be real-time monitoring for leakage.

--?The lack of consideration of Hardened On-Site Storage at the reactor site as an alternative is a glaring problem. ?

--?The lack of an on-site plan to deal with leakage is extremely concerning.
