Dear Nuclear Regulatory Commission Holtec comments,
Transporting nuclear waste to "store" it has way too many risks. I don't want to see our beloved New Mexico put in the dangerous position of having "temporary" storage in our state. Find a way to store it at the place of origin!!
I object to the approval of the Holtec Consolidated Interim Storage site near Carlsbad, NM. It would be safer to reduce transportation of highly radioactive used reactor fuel by leaving it at the site of generation until a permanent repository exists. ?
-- The proposed site is near a highway presenting a terrorism risk.
--?The plan does not adequately address radiation risk to workers. ?
--?There should be real-time monitoring for leakage.
--?The lack of consideration of Hardened On-Site Storage at the reactor site as an alternative is a glaring problem. ?
--?The lack of an on-site plan to deal with leakage is extremely concerning.
