SUBJECT: GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION - ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RESPONSE

TO NRC BASELINE INSPECTION REPORT 05000416/2020002 AND DENIAL

OF NON-CITED VIOLATION

Dear Mr. Larson:

This letter acknowledges your September 10, 2020, correspondence (Agencywide Documents

Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number ML20254A157) in response to

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Inspection Report 05000416/2020002

(ADAMS Accession No. ML20219A414) dated August 6, 2020. This NRC Inspection Report

documented a Severity Level IV non-cited violation of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations

(10 CFR) 50.73, Licensee Event Report System, for the failure to report an event or condition

that could have prevented the fulfillment of the safety function of structures or systems that are

needed to control the release of radioactive material (NCV 05000416/2020002-03). The

non-cited violations enclosed with Inspection Report 05000416/2020002 required you to respond

in writing within 30 days if you contested any of the violations. On September 2, 2020, the NRC

granted you an extension of the 30 days to September 11, 2020.

On September 10, 2020, the NRC received a letter from you contesting non-cited

violation NCV 05000416/2020002-03. The NRC is currently reviewing your basis for

contesting the violation in accordance with Part I, Section 2.3.7, of the NRC Enforcement

Manual. Accordingly, we will provide the results of our evaluation by written response within

100 days of the receipt of your letter.
