STATUS OF RECOMMENDATIONS: AUDIT OF NRCS INTEGRATED MATERIALS PERFORMANCE EVALUATION PROGRAM (OIG-20-A-10)
REFERENCE:
DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR REACTOR AND PREPAREDNESS PROGRAMS, OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR OPERATIONS, MEMORANDUM DATED JULY 15, 2020 Attached is the Office of the Inspector Generals (OIG) analysis and status of recommendations as discussed in the agencys response dated July 15, 2020. Based on this response, the recommendation associated with this report is open and resolved.
Please provide a status update for this recommendation by December 31, 2020.

Audit Report AUDIT OF NRCS INTEGRATED MATERIALS PERFORMANCE EVALUATION PROGRAM (OIG-20-A-10)
Status of Recommendation Recommendation 1: Finalize existing IMPEP guidance that addresses the organization, structure, and procedures to consistently implement NRCs consolidated IMPEP Program.
Agency Response The NRC staff agrees with the recommendation and has Dated July 15, 2020 already taken steps to address it. The following steps will be taken to address the recommendation:
- 1. Complete the revision of the existing Interim State Agreement (SA) procedure, SA-100, Integrated Materials Performance Evaluation Program to include aspects of the implementation plan that align with the NRC consolidated IMPEP plan. The procedure will include aspects related to the organization and structure of the consolidated NRC IMPEP review (e.g., Regions and Divisions subject to IMPEP, IMPEP team composition, etc.)
- 2. The comment period for the Interim SA-100 ended on July 1, 2020. NRC staff will incorporate comments into SA-100, as appropriate, and issue the procedure as final.
The finalized procedure will be posted on the NRCs State Communication Portal under the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards procedures tab (https://scp.nrc.gov/procedures.html).
Target date for completion:
Complete action by October 2020 OIG Analysis: The proposed actions meet the intent of this recommendation. This recommendation will be closed when OIG reviews the updated guidance to determine that the guidance (1) aligns with the NRC consolidated IMPEP plan, and (2) makes clear the organization and structure of the consolidated IMPEP review.
Status: Open: Resolved.
