SUBJECT HI-STORM 100 Amendment No. 15, Clarification Questions on RAI 4-3 Response

SUMMARY

AND ACTION REQUIRED (IF ANY)

Holtec Attendees: Kim Manzione, Debu Majumdar, Abrar Mohammad, and Nikhil Varma NRC Attendees: Yen-Ju Chen, Marilyn Diaz Maldonado, John McKirgan, Jorge Solis, and Ghani Zigh.

NRC requested clarification on Holtec's supplemental response to RAI 4-3 submitted on August 14, 2020, specifically, the approach and description for obtaining sink temperatures. Currently, the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) does not provide much description on the assumptions and thoughts behind the thermal modeling. It is also unclear whether the analysis used the most bounding or realistic condition.

Holtec stated that it will enhance the FSAR to provide better explanation on the thermal modeling and analysis. Holtec will consider how to verify the analysis is either for bounding or realistic condition.
