October 21, 1976 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-76-174 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

PLANT SHUTDOWN FOLLOWING INDICATION OF ELECTRICAL GROUND IN MAIN STATION GENERATOR The licensee reported by telephone to the Region V (Walnut Creek, California) office that the facility was shut down on the evening of October 18, 1976 to investigate and correct an indication of electrical ground in the generator field of the main station generator.
It is expected that the unit will remain shut down until Sunday, October 24, 1976.
A press release is to be issued by the licensee.
NRC Region V received notification of this event by telephone from the Assistant Plant Superintendent at 2:45 p.m. EST on October 20, 1976.
