MANAGEMENT MEETING ON THE CALLAWAY PLANT MAINTENANCE RULE PROGRAM
Dear Mr. Randolph:
This refers to the meeting conducted in the Region IV office on June 15,1998. The purpose of the meeting, which was requested by NRC, was to discuss the improvements in your program for implementing the requirements to meet 10 CFR 50.65 (the Maintenance Rule). Problems with the program were identified during the Maintenance Rule baseline team inspection conducted by inspectors in August 1997, and documented in NRC Inspection Report Number l
50-483/97-011.
During the matting, you and your staff presented a summary of the causes for program problems and the corrective actions that were completed or planned. The meeting was beneficial to the NRC staff's understanding of your current Maintenance Rule program. It was clear to the NRC staff that Union Electric has substantially strengthened this program. The meeting attendance list and a copy of your presentation are attached to this summary.
