The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

UPDATE ON POTENTIAL EMPLOYEE STRIKE SITUATION Current labor contracts with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for hourly and salaried production personnel expired at midnight Sunday, July 11. All Westinghouse sites with the exception of Cheswick, Pennsylvania and.Elmira, New York went out on strike. As of 2:00 p.m. July 12, the Cheswick site went out on strike because the i
national contract had not been settled. There are no local grievances.
Contingency plans which have been established in the event of a strike have been put into operation to operate the laboratory with management and guard force personnel as indicated previously in PNO-76-115. An IE:I inspector will be at the site on July 13, 1976 to verify tha adequacy i
of safety and plant protection practices under strike conditions.
I Media interest is expected because of continued interest in nuclear matters in the Pittsburgh area.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been and is being kept informed. A press release is not planned.
