PNS-77-39 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically Ill that is known by IE staff as of this date.

DEMONSTRATION AND ARRESTS AT VERMONT YANKEE Eighteen of twenty-eight demonstrators.. members of the " Alliance to i
Decommission Vermont Yankee," were arrested and cited for trespassing on Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant property. The demonstration Saturday l
afternoon, October 8, 1977, was not supported by the group's parent organization the " Clamshell A111anc?." No property damage or personnel injuries were reported. The arrested demonstrators were released on personal recognizance after being issued citations calling for their appearance at District Court of Brattelboro, Vermont on October 24, 1977.
Media interest is expected because of the presence of approximately fifteen reporters.
Local papers have covered the issue.
Representa-tives of the State of Vermont and State and Local Police were present for the demonstration. A press release is not planned.
