PNS-77-51 This preliminary notification' constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without i verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

TERMINATION OF THREE WATCHMEN FOR POSSESSION AND USE OF MARIJUANA Three watchmen were suspended on December 29, 1977, and subsequently terminated on December 30, 1977 for possession and smoking of marijuana ~
while on duty.
According to the Millstone Security Coordinator, one watchman brought three marijuana cigarettes onsite and gave them to two other watchmen.
A security guard performing his inspection noticed one watchman acting abnormally and further investigation uncovered the involve-ment of the other watchmen. Two of the watchmen have admitted the charges. The third has stated she will protest her termination to the W
union.
Media interest is expected because of recent press attention at Millstone.
The State of Connecticut has been informed. A press release is not planned by the licensee or NRC.
