POSSIBLE NEWS ARTICLE ALLEGING SECURITY AND RADIATION CONTROL DEFICIENCIES (REFERENCE DAILY REPORT APRIL 20, 1977)

A representative of the licensee advised he was informed by a reporter for the Moline Daily Dispatch that a story will be published today alleging security and radiation control deficiencies at the Quad-Cities Site. This story is based upon discussions the reporter claims to have had with "ex-guards and guards." The licensee representative also stated he contacted the Rock Island (Illinois) FBI Resident Agent to determine if the FBI was investigating these allegations presumably made by the same individual (s) who contacted the reporter. The Resident Agent confirmed a contact was made by an alleger but could not statn if an investigation is planned.
When received, the news article will be facsimiled to IE.
RIII plans to conduct an inspection at the Quad-Cities site during the week of April 25, 1977 and an attempt will be made to contact the alleger.
RIII received notification of this occurrence by telephone at,1:00 p.m.
