Subject:
MEDIA INTEREST IN INVESTIGATION NRC Region I (Philadelphia) initiated an investigation on September 27, 1978 of allegations that certain records pertaining to two areas of the facility physical protection program have been falsified.
Investigative effort to date indicates that certain weapons qualification and patrol records may have been falsified.
The investigation is still in progress.
Media interest has been shown.
An inquiry was received from the Providence, n
Rhode Island Journal on October 12, 1978.
On October 15, 1978, an exten-sive article appeared in the Journal concerning the investigation.
The State of Rhode Island has been informM.
Neither the licensee nor the NRC plan to issue'a press release.
