Onerating Reactor Licensing Action Estimates Ladies and Gentlemen:

- On May 6,~ 1998 the NRC issued Administrative Letter ?8-03, " Operating Reactor Licensing Action Estimates," which requested that addressees submit information pertaining to estimates of the number oflicensing actions that will be submitted for

- NRC's' review for the remainder of 1998 and the upcoming fiscal year of 1999. In '

accordance with your request, Southern Nuclear Operating Company estimates that eight

.(8) submittals will be made during the remainder of FY 1998 and seven (7) submittals will be made during FY 1999.

- To adequately capture the larger resource impact of certain licensing reviews, the following submittals will potentially generate a more complex review:

l 1998: Revision to Appendix 9B of the FSAR 8

.1999: Steam Generator Replacement

'This estimate does not constitute a formal NRC commitment and may change due to shifts in priorities and personnel availability.
