Subject:
SHUTDOWN FOR REPLACEMENT OF TERMINAL BLOCKS Yankee Rowe has determined that they have 100 terminal blocks (a type of electrical connector) located inside containment in safety related systems which are incapable of performing satisfactorily in the high temperature /
f humidity environment following a loss of coolant accident or steam line break.
The terminal blocks are the same type determined by the Connecticut i
Yankee Atomic Power Company to be unsatisfactory in recent tests and which were replaced at the Haddam Neck Plant on January 28 and 29,1978.
The Yankee Rowe Plant was shutdown for operator training when this condition was identified.
The terminal blocks will be replaced prior to returning Ps#
the plant to power.

A press release is being considered by the licensee.

telephone from the Station Superintendent at 9:10 a.m., on January 30, 1978.
