Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPF-29 Severe Accident Management implementation Schedule Change GNRO-98/00016 Gentlemen:
In a letter dated March 27,1995 (GNRO-95/0043) we informed you that Grand Gulf Nuclear Station intended to implement the BWROG Accident Management Guidelines using Section 5 of NEl 91-04, Revision 1 within two years following the receipt of the BWROG Accident Management Guidelines. At that time it was our understanding that we could expect to receive the BWROG product in December,1995.
The BWROG Accident Management Guidelines was not received by Grand Gulf until August,1996. Based on date of receipt, Grand Gulf has been tracking this commitment date as August,1998. Grand Gulf Nuclear Station received Revision 1 to the BWROG Accident Management Guidelines in August,1997. Because of the delay in receipt of the final BWROG Accident Management Guidelines, changes in personnel assignments, a refueling outage scheduled in the second quarter of 1998 and availability of training and simulator facilities, Grand Gulf Nuclear Station must change its implementation date to no later than December 31,1998. This four month change in schedule remains within the bounds of the formal industry position, found in NEl 91-04, Revision 1.
