On March 9,1998, Byron Station Unit 1 completed a Steam Generator Replacement Outage in which the original Westinghouse Model D-4 steam generators were replaced with Babcock
& Wilcox International replacement steam generators. In accordaace with Technical i
Specification 6.9.1.1, Byron Station is submitting this Startup Report to summarize the plant I
startup and power escalation testing following a modification "that may have significantly altered the nuclear, thermal, or hydraulic performance of the plant." This report summarizes the power escalation testing performed to demonstrate satisfactory plant
(
performance with the replacement steam generators. Only those tests, which may have been affected by the replacement of the steam generators, are included.
As can be seen from the attached report, the replacement steam generators have not significantly altered the nuclear, thermal, or hydraulic performance of the plant. Acceptance criteria for all tests were met or evaluated as acceptable for plant operation.
