CHAIRMAN Mr. Franklin P. Huddle Consul General U.S. Consulate General 78, Bhulabhal Desal Road Mumbai 400 026 India
Dear Mr. Huddle:
I would like to thank you and your staff for helping to make my recent trip to India a success. My meetings with Indian Govemment and private sector energy, power, science and technology, and nuclear officials provided important opportunities to discuss our respective countries' differing nuclear energy and nonproliferation policies. I believe these discussions began the process of reassessing U.S.-Indian nuclear relations, particularly given the real enthusiasm with which my visit met, although the recent detonation of nuclear devices by the Indian Govemment will affect the outcome of this reassessment.
I would like to take this opportunity to mention my appreciation of Mr. Jerrold Mallory's efforts on behalf of my visit. His attention to logistical detail and his knowledge of the Indian Govemment, its policies and practices, and of appropriate individual interlocutors, as well as his on-the-ground support throughout my time in Mumbai helped to ensure the success of my visit.
)
I look forward to meeting with you when next you are in Washington.
I Sincerely, b
