Dear Mr. Miller:

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission conducted a routine inspection of the Portsmouth 1 Gaseous Diffusion Plant material control and accounting safeguards program on April 27- l May 1,1998. The scope and results of the inspection are summarized in the enclosed report, which also includes details of the inspection.

At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with members of your staff. No l violations were identified.

Under the provisions of Section 2.790(d), reports containing information related to a regulatee's MC&A program are exempt from public disclosure. Accordingly, the enclosed report will agi be placed in the Public Document Room.
