Dear Administrative Judges:

In your Memorandum and Order of September 1,1989, you requested that the ,

staff provide its schedule for the preparation of safety and environmental '

documents related to Rockwell International Corporation's renewal application.  ;

Included in the request was an inquiry as to the level of staff's confidence  !

that the schedule will be met. Staff is contracting' for technical assistance for its environmental review. The contract is not yet in place; however, the contract will call for the completion of the environmental assessment by June.30, 1990. This date could be seriously impacted by resource demands on the-staff project manager due to involvement in an ongoing ASLB proceeding (ASLBP No. 83-495-01-ML). The safety review should be completed within 2 months of completion of the environmental review and publication in the Federal Register.  !
