Dear Mr. Colvin:

We have reviewed the revised fitness _for-duty performance data collection form and instructions for its use that you forwarded by letters dated June 30 and July 21, 1989.

We appreciate your response to our written and oral comments. With the publication of the final rule, we assume that most licensees will move expeditiously to implement the provisions of the rule, including the collection of a first round of performance data.

Thus, final industry guidance should be made available to the licensees as soon as possible.

The July 21, 1989, version of the form and instructions are acceptable to the NRC for use by licensees in meeting 10 CFR 26.71(d). As you recognize, future change' may be necessary based upon experience gained from actual use of the l

data form.

Again, we appreciate industry's efforts in this area.
