I Mr. Fred D. Flowers Manager, Traffic & Regulatory Control M/C 512 General Electric Company 175 Curtner Avenue San Joss, Ca 95125

Dear Mr. Flowers:

We received your request for a license to export some 265.0 grams of uranium pellets to Empresa Nacional Del Uranio, in Spain and in reviewing it, we note that the quantity of material is less than one effective gram of U-235. Under the provision contained in 10 CFR 110.21 (b)(1) this quantity of material may be exported under a general license. No specific license is required.

You advised us that the country of origin of the material is Canada. Under the procedures in place for authorizing the export of Canadian origin material, we contacted the Department of Energy which, in turn, cleared this export with the Canadian authorities. You may export the material to Spain under the general licensing authority.

Should you have other requests to export material of Canadian, Australian, Japanese or Swedish origins, which might otherwise fall under the general license provisions, you should continue to refer them to this office for country of origin approval prior to export.
