MEETING
SUMMARY
CONCERNING INDUSTRIAL NUCLEAR COMPANY TESTING OF IR-100,IR-50, AND OP-100 PACKAGES.
Attendees:
NJG JNg PacTec Nancy Osgood E. W. Huddleston Gary Clark Andrew Barto Daniel Huang David Tiktinsky Ross Chappell introduction A meeting was held at the request of Industrial Nuclear Company, Inc. (INC) at Rockville, Maryland, on May 19,1998, concerning deficiencies in the hypothetical accident conditions testing of the Model No. IR-100 and IR-50 packages. The meeting involved a discussion of INC's retesting plan in response to Confirmatory Action Letter No. 98-8-001.
Discussion 1.
INC presented proposed test plans for the IR-100 radiography device and the !R-50 source changer. INC proposed to retest the IR-100 and IR-50 inside of the OP-100 overpack. This testing scenario would result in the IR-100 and IR-50 being approved for transport within the OP-100 drum overpack.
2.
INC presented proposed drop orientations for the nine-meter free drop and one-f meter puncture drop. There was a discussion of which orientations would be the j
most damaging.

INC informed NRC that it would submit a revised test plan within two weeks of this y
meeting.
