SUBJECT:
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON SITES THAT MAY BE CANDIDATES FOR TRANSFER TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY FOR LONG-TERM CARE
Dear Mr. Crandall:
l l am responding to your letter of May 6,1998, which requested additional site characterization l
and environmental information for ten decommissioning sites that may be candidates for l
transfer to the U.S. Department of Energy under the provisions of Section 151(b) of the Nuclear i
Waste Policy Act. The information you have requested is extensive and several weeks will be i
required to make the additional copies. The information will be reproduced and forwarded to you on a site basis. Our project manager for each site, who is identified on the checklist that we previously forwarded to your office, will coordinate the submittal of this information directly with Mr. Kowalewski of your staff.
Your letter also referenced the development of a Memorandum of Understanding on this topic.
Our review of the stakeholder involvement guidance you had supplied for our consideration has been delayed by resource constraints and unexpected staff reassignments. I will contact you separately with our schedule for completing this review.
If you have any questions, please call me at (301) 415-7298.
Sincerely,
