I have received your letter of July 6, 1989, regarding the consolidation of non-power reactor activities within the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
Your proposal, which represents a major. change in the NRC's organizational structure and in the allocation of NRC resources, is being carefully 1
evaluated by the NRC staff.
We expect that the staff will l
forward its recommendations on this matter to the Commission i
in mid-August.
At this time, the Commission does not anticipate that a formal presentation on this matter by representatives of your organization will be needed.
I can assure you, however, that after we have had_an opportunity to review the staff's recommendations, we will advise you of our decision.
