Enclosed is the Second Quarter FY-89 update of the Generic Issue Management Control System (GIMCS) for your information. This report contains the following highlights:

(1) Three Generic Safety Issues (GSIs) were resolved during the reporting period:

Dam Failure Model (3) One GSI was identified for prioritizstion during the reporting period:

146 Support Flexibility of Eouipment and Components Fcur USIs and 42 GSIs remain to be resolved; of these, 3 USIs and 18 GSIs are scheduled for resolution in FY-89 (see Table 4). All resolution dates l'

listed in the attached GIMCS update have been included in the latest update of the NRC Five-Year Plan. We shall continue to vigorously pursue resolution of the unresolved GSIs on schedules consistent with this plan.
