SUBJECT:

INDUSTRY' INITIATIVE ON SUBSTANDARD NON-SAFETY'RELATED L

MOLDED CASE CIRCUIT BREAKERS FEF:

1.

Letter from NUMARC to Administrative Points of' Contact, dated June 21, 1989.

2.

TU Electric letter to NUMARC logged TXX-89423, dated June 30, 1989.

Gentlemen:

Reference 1 requested a report by July 30, 1989, on the NUMARC industry initiative on; substandard non-safety related molded case circuit breakers (HCCB's).

Reference 2 provided the requested information except for the status'of'the suspect MCCB's identified in Initiative Element One and the total. number of non-safety related MCCB's in-stock examined as part of Initiative Element Two.

The status of the suspect MCCB's identified in Initiative Element One will be provided by August 15,'1989.

A specific total of circuit breakers was kept only for warehouse bins' which held suspect breakers during-the inspection.

Otherwise, only the bin number was noted. Therefore, an estimate was made using an " average" number of-breakers times the total number of bins.

Your Mr. Russell Bell indicated that this.would be acceptable.

Using this method. TU Electric estimates tnat 750 non-safety related MCCB's in CPSES warehouse stock were examined as part of NUMARC Initiative Element two.
