Re:

Notification of the NRC of Employees' Potential Safety Issues L

Reference:

Your April 27, 1989, letter. to John F. Welch, Jr. and enclosure, same subject

Dear Mr. Stello:

Dr. John Welch has asked that I investigate the question posed in your referenced letter, and respond for GE. Your letter requests that GE notify the NRC if it has in place any agreements settling nuclear "whistleblower" charges filed with the U.S. Department of Labor, which include provisions restricting any employee from providing information about potential safety issues to the NRC. We have canvassed all those GE components which we knew or suspected were involved in the sale of nuclear safety-related goods or services, and have discovered no such provisions.

I trust this information meets your needs.

Sincerely, 13 Y pn p
