Strip Source DESCRIPTION:
The source is a doubly encapsulated Cesium-137 source.
The material used in the source construction is 304 and 410 stainless steel.
The inner capsule is filled with inert ceramic microspheres containing the Cesium-137 material.
This is a cylindrical strip source 1/2" in diameter, varying in length from 2-1/2" to 73-1/2" (active length 1" to 72").
The sealed tube is encapsulated within an outer,1/2" 0.D., stainless steel tube witn plugs welded at both ends.
The wall thickness is 56 mils.

Contact 5 cm 30 cm 100 cm 1000 cm 1.3 x 108 mr/hr 3.7 x 108 mr/hr 3 x 105 mr/hr 3400 mr/hr No contact readings have been calculated i
because the readings will vary a considerable amount depending on the l
length of the 4F6P strip source.
QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL:
The Quality Control group operates from policies and procedures described in the Static Control Systems Division Manual (New Brighton Plant).
The quality system is based on Mil-Q-9858-A guidelines on file with the NRC.
The orogram has been previously deemed acceptable for licensing purposes by the NRC.

SUMMARY
Classification of 77C43232, that this amendment increases only the' maximum activity from 2 curies to 10 curies we continue to conclude that the Model 4F6P source design is acceptable for licensing purposes.
Furthermore, we conclude that this source would be expected to maintain containment integrity for normal research, development and industrial uses.
Additionally, the source would be expected to maintain containment integrity ~
under accident conditions applicable to the uses specified in this certificate.
